Bio
The Ag Teacher in the crew, Tim taught for eight years in the secondary agriscience classrooms of Missouri, completed his Ph.D., spent two years on the faculty at the University of Idaho, and is completing his 15th year at Texas A&M University. He is Professor and Associate Department Head for Graduate Programs and Research in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications.
Involved in teacher education, Tim focuses on the areas of agricultural mechanics, program evaluation, STEM integration, distance education, and curriculum development. His interest in AET is grounded in his 25 years of experience in High School Agriculture classrooms across the country. His passion is delivering tools teachers can use to help engage students and promote local program success.
Tim spent 10 years as Treasurer of the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE). He was named the AAAE Southern Region Outstanding Young Agricultural Educator in 2000, selected as a Teaching Fellow by North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture in 2006, received the AAAE Southern Region Distinguished Research Award in 2007, the AAAE Outstanding Agricultural Educator Award in 2008, and was named a Fellow in the AAAE in 2009. In 2012, Dr. Murphy completed his term as President of the Southern Region, was elected President of the AAAE, and received the Honorary Texas State FFA Degree.
